Ayothaya Floating Market was conceived from the idea that it should be the place to reflect the way of life of the people of Ayutthaya whose lives have been close to and related to rivers. The Market is divided into 16 zones, which are named after different districts of Ayutthaya Province. For example, Bang Sai Market sells basketry; Bang Ban Market sells desserts and souvenirs while Bang Pahan Market features roti, desserts and souvenirs; Sena Market sells fresh prawns and baked fish and a large area, known as the Krung Si Ayutthaya Plaza, is the venue for shows and performances. In addition to a variety of food, there is a diversity of souvenirs to buy. There are stages located around the market for the presentation of folk performances and other activities include elephant rides to visit ancient places, photo opportunities with tigers, rides in a horse-drawn carriage, riding an ATV vehicle, boating around the Floating Market, and art and cultural shows in the form of Khon masked dance drama, traditional Thai dances, Choi and Lakhon folk music.
